Phi Phi: two days, one night
Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon, Bamboo island, a night on the island and the morning viewpoint
Phi Phi in one day means four hours of boat time for a few hours on the islands. Staying the night changes the arithmetic: you see the same famous places, but you also get the island in the evening, when the day boats have gone — dinner, a fire show on the sand, the bars if you want them — and again in the morning, when the viewpoint above the village is at its best and almost empty. The second afternoon works its way home through Monkey Beach, a snorkelling stop and Rang Yai.

Questions we get asked
Is one night on Phi Phi actually better than the day trip?
If you want the islands themselves, yes. The famous stops are the same, but you also get the evening and the early morning, which is when Phi Phi stops looking like a queue of speedboats.
Is the nightlife unavoidable?
No. The fire show is on the beach in front of the hotel and everything after it is optional. Plenty of guests have dinner and go to bed.
How hard is the viewpoint climb?
It is a steep set of steps above the village and takes around half an hour at a slow pace. It is the best view of the trip, and it is entirely optional.
