Phi Phi Tours from Phuket: Which Trip to Pick

By the PhuketGO tour desk on Phuket — we book and run these trips every week · Updated 28 September 2026

You can see Phi Phi from Phuket three honest ways: a speedboat day, the same islands at an odd hour (sunrise, or sunset from a catamaran), or two days with a night on Phi Phi Don. Every one of our Phi Phi trips reaches Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon and the Viking Cave — so really you are choosing how early to get up and how long to sit on a boat.

English guide, park fees and hotel pickup

English-speaking guide: every Phi Phi tour in this comparison runs with an English-speaking guide.

National park fees: on the Khai island day and the Bamboo island and fishing day, the fee is paid in cash on the day. It is included on the sunrise and overnight trips. Check the included and excluded items on your chosen tour card.

Hotel pickup: send your tour, date and hotel in the chat. Pickup arrangements and any transfer surcharge depend on the tour and hotel area; we confirm them before payment.

What do all Phi Phi trips have in common?

Two islands. Phi Phi Don is the lived-in one — the village, the hotels, the beach restaurants where lunch happens. Phi Phi Leh is empty national park: Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon inside its ring of cliffs, and the Viking Cave, where swiftlet nests are still collected by hand. Monkey Beach sits in between, and nearly every boat slows down there.

Then the rules nobody can bend. Maya Bay follows the park: some days you walk in on a boardwalk and swimming at the shore is limited, other days the bay is closed and you see it from the water. Pileh Lagoon only opens at high tide (the guide will juggle the order to catch it). That is why our programmes give times as a guide, not a timetable.

The park fee is the one thing people trip over. On the two classic speedboat days you pay it in cash on the day; on the sunrise trip and the overnight trips it is already in the price. Check the card — we list it every time.

Speedboat, sunrise or catamaran — which should I book?

Cheapest, and the gentlest first snorkel: Phi Phi, Maya Bay and Khai island. Pickup 07:30, boat from Chalong at 09:15, first stop Khai — shallow water, fish right up to the sand. Phi Phi Don for Monkey Beach and a buffet lunch, Phi Phi Leh after lunch, Maya Bay last. Back at Chalong about 16:15.

Phi Phi at sunrise is the one I would book for Maya Bay itself. Pickup between four and half past four (yes, really), the sun comes up while you are at sea, and you walk into the bay around seven, before the day boats. Bamboo island in the afternoon, back on the pier at 15:30. Every tour in our catalogue runs with an English-speaking guide. It bounces, though, so not in pregnancy or with a bad back.

The catamaran does the opposite with time. Racha Yai in the morning while the beach is empty, lunch on Phi Phi Don, Maya Bay between four and five when the crowds have gone, then a sunset on the water by Maiton island. Two decks, a slide into the sea, SUP boards, clear canoes. Comfort+ only, back at 19:00.

And a fourth: Phi Phi plus Bamboo island plus deep-water fishing off Rang Yai. Here Maya Bay is a walk along the boardwalk, no swimming inside. In strong wind the captain cancels the fishing — he is right to.

    • →Lowest price, first snorkel in easy water — Phi Phi, Maya Bay and Khai island
    • →Maya Bay with few people on it — the sunrise trip
    • →A slow day with a sunset and deck space — the catamaran
    • →Bamboo island sand plus a fishing rod — Phi Phi, Bamboo and Rang Yai

Is it worth staying the night on Phi Phi?

If you can spare it, yes. A day trip spends a good part of its length on the boat; a night changes the maths. Phi Phi, two days and one night does Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon, the Viking Cave, a snorkel and Bamboo island on the first morning, then lunch and check-in on Phi Phi Don. Dinner, a fire show on the sand, the bars if you want them. Next morning, the viewpoint — nearly empty at that hour — and home via Monkey Beach and Rang Yai.

Two longer routes stitch Phi Phi to the other bays. Four pearls starts in Phang Nga Bay (James Bond island, canoes at Talu), crosses to Railay and Chicken island, sleeps on Phi Phi Don and does Maya Bay first thing. Five pearls goes via the Hong island viewpoint and adds a night swim among glowing plankton. The Phi Phi viewpoint ticket on both is 50 ฿, paid on the spot.

No night to spare? The eleven-islands day crams Phang Nga, Hong and Phi Phi into one run — 06:00 pickup, home around 20:00. Our longest day. Compare it on the two-day trips page before you decide.

What should I know before booking?

Language first. Every tour in our catalogue runs with an English-speaking guide. Kids aged 4 to 9 pay the child price, from ten it is the adult one.

Booking is simple: send the tour, the date and your hotel in the chat, and we confirm the pickup time. Payment is agreed there after the booking is confirmed — by card, bank transfer or USDT. And if the sea is closed on your date, the trip moves or the money comes back, so put Phi Phi early in your stay. Keep a spare day.

Worth knowingMaya Bay is a national park beach with its own rules. Swimming at the shore is limited, and on closure days you see it from the boat. Come for the view and the snorkelling stops, and treat time on that sand as a bonus.

    Questions people ask

How long is the boat ride from Phuket to Phi Phi?

About an hour by speedboat. On our programmes the boat reaches its first Phi Phi stop roughly sixty minutes after leaving the pier. Add the hotel pickup and the drive to the pier on top.

Can you swim at Maya Bay?

Only in a limited way. Park rules restrict swimming at the shore, on some trips you walk in along a boardwalk, and when the park closes the bay it is seen from the boat. Snorkelling happens at other stops.

Which Phi Phi tour is best with children?

Phi Phi, Maya Bay and Khai island: the first stop has shallow, clear water with fish at the shore, and the day starts at a normal hour. The sunrise trip means a 4 am pickup, which is hard on small children.

Is the national park fee included?

It depends on the trip. On the Khai island day and the Bamboo island and fishing day it is paid in cash on the day. On the sunrise and overnight trips it is included. Each tour card lists what is included.

    Do the guides speak English?

Yes. Every tour in our catalogue runs with an English-speaking guide.

How do I book a Phi Phi tour?

In the chat. Send the tour, the date and your hotel, and we confirm the pickup time. Payment is agreed in the chat after the booking is confirmed: by card, bank transfer or USDT.
