Racha and Coral islands by speedboat
Two islands in a day: white sand at Patok Bay, snorkelling and water sports
The cheapest way to get a proper island day out of Phuket, and the shortest crossing — forty minutes from Chalong. Racha Yai comes first: Patok Bay, soft white sand and clear water for swimming and snorkelling. After lunch the boat moves to Coral island, where the reef is right off the beach and the water sports operators are set up on the sand, so the afternoon can be as calm or as loud as you want it.

Questions we get asked
Which island is better for snorkelling?
Racha Yai has the clearer water and the better visibility. Coral island has the easier entry from the beach and everything else going on around it.
How much should I budget for the water sports?
Parasailing runs 1,000–1,500 ฿ a flight, the banana boat 300–500 ฿, jet skis 800–1,200 ฿ for half an hour. Bring cash if you plan to do any of it.
Is this a good first island trip?
Yes — short crossings, two beaches, lunch included and back on Phuket by evening. It is the trip to take on your first days on the island.
