Are National Park Fees Included in Phuket Tours?

By the PhuketGO tour desk on Phuket — we book and run these trips every week · Updated 10 October 2026

    Short answer

On most of our tours the national park fees are already in the price. The two exceptions are the classic Phi Phi speedboat days — Khai island, and Bamboo island with fishing — where the park fee is paid in cash on the day.

Prices come straight from our booking system. Children under four join free on most trips — each tour page says so.

Which tours include the park fee?

Most of them. The card lists 'national park entrance fees' as included on Phi Phi at sunrise, the Phi Phi two-day trip, Four and Five pearls, the eleven-islands day, James Bond island and Phang Nga Bay, the classic Similan day, Racha at sunrise, Krabi tropical paradise, Secrets of Krabi, both Phang Nga and Samet Nangshe days, the Khao Lak safari and both rafting days. Coral island from Rawai includes the park fee; the Racha and Coral speedboat includes the island entrance fees. The early Similan card doesn't list the fee either way; is the early bird Similan tour worth the extra cost explains what to ask. What else each of the three Racha and Coral trips includes, masks and lunch among it, is on Racha or Coral island for snorkelling. The Similan park is also closed for part of the year; are the Similan Islands open has the dates. Whether the twelve-hour Avatar world day is worth it is weighed on is the Avatar world tour worth it. Both Phang Nga days include the fee; how they differ otherwise is on Samet Nangshe or James Bond island: which Phang Nga day.

On the Avatar world day the card says all entrance fees in the programme are included. What each Racha trip includes is listed side by side on Racha and Coral islands: speedboat or catamaran.

Where do I pay it myself?

On Phi Phi, Maya Bay and Khai island and on Phi Phi, Bamboo island and fishing at Rang Yai. On both, the national park fee is listed as excluded and paid in cash on the day. Bring baht in small notes. Whether the Khai island day is still good value with the fee on top is weighed on is the Phi Phi, Maya Bay and Khai speedboat worth it. If you can't decide between an elephant ride on the safari and the hot springs on the Avatar day, read Khao Lak safari or Avatar world.

We do not print the amount on this page. The parks set it, it changes, and a number here would go stale — ask in the chat before your trip and we will tell you the current figure.

Why is it separate on some trips?

Because it is not the operator's money. The fee goes to the park, collected at its own entrance, and on some routes that is simpler to pay there than to bundle into the ticket. Foreign visitors pay more than Thai citizens at national parks — that is the parks' own policy, not the guide's.

Either way, the money goes to places like Maya Bay and the Similan reefs. It is, in effect, the entrance ticket to what you came for. Maya Bay itself also closes for part of the low season; is Maya Bay open explains what tours do then. Prefer to stay off the sea for a day? See land tours from Phuket.

What does the park fee actually pay for?

The national parks around Phuket — Phi Phi, the Similans, Phang Nga Bay — are protected areas, and the entrance fee funds them: the rangers and the boardwalk at Maya Bay among them. Some parks close for part of the year so the reefs can recover; the Similans shut from mid-May to mid-October.

That is also why the rules on those islands are stricter than on Phuket's beaches. You walk where the rangers say, and in places like Maya Bay swimming at the shore is limited.

Do land tours have entrance fees too?

Yes, and on our land days they are included. Secrets of Krabi lists national park fees, Bang Khram park tickets, access to the thermal springs and cave tickets as included. The rafting days and the Khao Lak safari include national park entrance fees. The Phang Nga days include the Samet Nangshe viewpoint. Park fees are in the price of the rafting and ATV day too; whether that day is worth it is on rafting, elephants and ATV in one day. The safari includes the fee as well; whether the day is worth it is on is the Khao Lak safari worth it.

The small exceptions sit on the card: a temple offering on the Krabi day (50 ฿ on the spot), temple clothing hire if you need a cover-up. What else that Krabi day costs on the spot, and whether it's worth it, is on is Secrets of Krabi worth it.

How do I know before the day?

Open the tour page and look under 'Included' and 'Not included'. We copy those lines from our booking system, trip by trip. If the park fee is in the 'Not included' list, bring cash; if it sits under 'Included', you pay nothing at the gate. For the James Bond routes, tour by tour, see are canoeing and park fees included on a James Bond island tour.

When you book, we also confirm it in the chat. Ask 'is the park fee included?' with the tour name, and you get a yes or no for that exact trip. The total and the pickup time arrive together in the chat once the booking is confirmed; the steps are on how booking works.

Are there other small extras on the day?

A few, listed on each card. The viewpoint ticket on Phi Phi Don is 50 ฿ on Four and Five pearls. Feeding the elephant on Secrets of Krabi is 100 ฿. Water sports on Coral island are sold by beach operators and paid on the spot. Whether the 04:30 pickup for Racha Yai and Coral island is worth it is answered on is the Racha and Coral sunrise tour worth it. On Five pearls the one ticket you pay on the spot is the 50 ฿ Phi Phi Don viewpoint; is the Five Pearls two-day tour worth it lists what the price covers.

Everything else in the tour — transfer, boat, lunch, guide, insurance — is in the price. See what to bring for how much cash to carry.

A simple habit helps: keep a few hundred baht in small notes in a separate pocket of the dry bag, just for fees and small extras. Then you never have to open your main wallet on a wet boat or in a queue at the park gate. On the two Phi Phi speedboat days it covers the park fee; on other days, a drink or a souvenir. For a straight comparison of the Phi Phi speedboat days with the Krabi four islands trip, see Phi Phi or Krabi islands: which day trip to book. Starting the Similan day from Khao Lak instead of Phuket changes the pickup time, not the ticket; see Similan Islands from Phuket or Khao Lak. On the Khai day the park fee is paid in cash on the day; what else is and isn't in that price is on Khai islands from Phuket.

Worth knowingOn the two Phi Phi speedboat days the park fee is cash only, paid on the day. Put the baht aside the evening before so it is not buried at the bottom of the bag. Small notes help. Keep them dry.
