Is the Five Pearls Two-Day Tour from Phuket Worth It?

By the PhuketGO tour desk on Phuket — we book and run these trips every week · Updated 10 October 2026

Yes, if you want Phang Nga Bay, the Krabi islands and Phi Phi on one ticket, and you'd rather wake up on Phi Phi Don than face two separate boat days out of Phuket. Day one lands on James Bond island and climbs to the Hong island viewpoint; day two is Maya Bay, Pileh Lagoon and Bamboo island, and the hotel, two lunches, dinner with wine, breakfast and park fees are all in the price. Couples and groups of friends get the most out of it, while anyone set on Railay beach should look at Four Pearls instead.

Prices come straight from our booking system. Children under four join free on most trips — each tour page says so.

Day one: Phang Nga Bay and the Krabi islands

It's an early one. You're collected between 06:00 and 06:30, have breakfast with the guide at Royal Phuket Marina, and the speedboat goes at 08:30. Phang Nga Bay fills the morning. First Panak island and the Ice Cream Cave, with stalactites shaped like scoops and a way in only at low tide, then James Bond island at ten, with Ta Pu rock in front of you. After that, canoes through the mangroves and caves at Talu, and lunch in Panyi, the old sea gypsy village.

By one o'clock you're in Krabi waters. Lao Lading is a white-sand swim stop; Hong island, at 14:20, has a beach and a climb up to a viewpoint over the whole archipelago. You check in on Phi Phi Don at 16:10, which leaves a bit of time before dinner. That is the Krabi Hong, not the kayak lagoons near James Bond island: which Hong island is which.

The evening on Phi Phi Don

Dinner at the hotel, with wine, is at 18:50, and from there you choose. There's a night swim in plankton that glows when you move, plus a boat ride round the bay, at 19:30; a fire show on the sand at 20:15; an introduction to Thai boxing where you can have a go at 20:30; and the beach bars after 21:30. None of it is required. The hotel sits on the beach, and going to bed is a perfectly good plan. The night swim in the glowing plankton has its own page: can you see glowing plankton on a tour from Phuket.

Day two: Phi Phi Leh and the way home

Day two can start with a climb to the island viewpoint at six, if you're keen; otherwise breakfast and check-out run from seven to nine. The boat heads for Phi Phi Leh at 09:30. Maya Bay comes first, at 09:45 (from the boat if the park has it closed), then Pileh Lagoon at 10:40, which you can only enter at high tide, the Viking Cave at 11:20 and Monkey Beach ten minutes later. Snorkelling, then lunch on Phi Phi Don at 12:30. The way home has two more stops, Bamboo island at 14:00 and Rang Yai at 16:00, and you reach the pier at 17:00.

    Why it's worth it

You see three regions and make the long crossing only once each way. Do James Bond island and Phi Phi as separate day trips and you get two early alarms and two days of riding out and back. Here the night on Phi Phi Don breaks it up, and day two begins a short hop from Maya Bay rather than at a pier on Phuket.

The price includes much more than the boat: the hotel room on Phi Phi Don, two lunches, a dinner with wine, breakfast, hotel transfer both ways, the speedboat with front boarding, national park entrance fees, the guide, insurance, masks, snorkels and life jackets, soft drinks and fruit, the canoeing at Talu, the fire show and access to the beach parties. It runs in the Comfort+ format, which adds coffee and a light breakfast at the pier, Wi-Fi and music on the boat, towels and rain ponchos, and wine and ice cream on return.

    Why it might not be

It's a lot of speedboat: an early start on day one, a 17:00 arrival on day two, and many short stops in between. Several of them follow the tide, since the Ice Cream Cave needs low water and Pileh Lagoon needs high water, and Maya Bay is only seen from the boat when park rules close it.

If Railay is on your list, this isn't the trip: Railay is on Four Pearls, and Five Pearls or Four Pearls compares the two. If you're not sure you want a night away at all, Phi Phi: day trip or overnight weighs that question first.

What you pay there, and what to pack

One thing is paid on the spot: the ticket to the Phi Phi Don viewpoint, 50 ฿, if you take the early climb. Souvenirs, personal spending and extra drinks are on you too. Pack one small bag for the night with swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses, a change of clothes for two days and a waterproof phone case, plus motion sickness tablets if you need them. The bag stays on the boat during the day stops and goes to the hotel with you in the evening. The price for the two days is in the table on this page, in baht.

    Who it suits

Couples and friends who want the evening on Phi Phi as much as the islands, and anyone who would otherwise book two separate day trips for James Bond island and Phi Phi. Children aged 4 to 9 pay the child price, and from ten the adult price applies; the evening programme is optional, so a family can skip it and go to bed after dinner. Other trips we would suggest to a couple, from the sunset catamaran to the spa day, are on Phuket tours for couples. If you only want Hong and can do without the night away, Krabi four islands or Hong island has the one-day route.

    • →You want James Bond island, Hong island and Phi Phi in one trip — Five Pearls
    • →You want Railay beach instead of Hong island — Four Pearls
    • →You want two days on Phi Phi only, with fishing on the way back — Phi Phi: two days, one night
    • →You want Maya Bay at seven in the morning, in one day — Phi Phi at sunrise

    Guide and booking

Every tour in our catalogue runs with an English-speaking guide. Payment is agreed in the chat after the booking is confirmed. Send the tour, the dates and your hotel, and we confirm the pickup time. All three of our overnight trips are compared on two-day trips from Phuket. The last stop of day two, at 16:00, is Rang Yai island, an hour before the pier.

Worth knowingTwo stops follow the tide: the Ice Cream Cave on Panak needs low water and Pileh Lagoon needs high water. The programme follows the tide, so the times above can move on the day.
