Rang Yai is an island off Phuket that our trips use as the last stop before the pier: a rest, a swim and, on the Phi Phi days, hand-line fishing with the captain. Four trips stop there, the Phi Phi, Bamboo and fishing day, two overnight trips with a night on Phi Phi Don, and the jet ski morning, and none of them goes to Rang Yai alone.

Which trips stop at Rang Yai, and when?
Here they are, by the clock. The Phi Phi, Bamboo island and fishing day reaches Rang Yai at 15:05, after Bamboo, Maya Bay, lunch and Monkey Beach, and is back at the pier at 16:30. The jet ski tour gets there at 12:15, after Rang Noi, and finishes at AA Marina at 12:45.
The other two are overnight. Phi Phi, two days and one night stops at Rang Yai at 16:30 on day two, on the way home. The five pearls two-day tour stops there at 16:00 on day two, with the pier at 17:00. Adult and child prices for all four are in the table above; the jet ski price is per machine, not per person.
What's included, and where does each trip start?
The Phi Phi, Bamboo and fishing day collects you from your hotel around 06:50, with tea and coffee at the pier at 07:30 and the speedboat leaving at 08:30. Included: hotel transfer both ways, the speedboat, lunch at a beach restaurant on Phi Phi Don, masks and snorkels, the fishing tackle, water and fruit, insurance and an English-speaking guide. The national park fee is paid in cash on the day.
The two-day Phi Phi trip picks up at 06:50 too, and the five pearls trip between 06:00 and 06:30, from Royal Phuket Marina. Both include the hotel room on Phi Phi Don, meals and park fees. The jet ski is the odd one out: no hotel transfer, you meet at AA Marina at 09:00, and the price covers the machine, the briefing, snorkel gear, lunch on Naka Noi, a life jacket and insurance.
What do you do on Rang Yai?
Mostly, you slow down. On the Phi Phi days the cards call it a rest stop, and it comes after the big names: a swim, a sit on the sand, lines going down from the boat. On the jet ski morning, Rang Yai is beach time after a photo stop at Rang Noi, and then the route heads home through the mangroves.
Don't expect a programme here. None of our cards gives Rang Yai a viewpoint or a sight to queue for: it's a pause between the famous islands and the pier, and we think that's the right place for one. If you want sand to be the point of a day, Bamboo island is the beach of the Phi Phi route.
How does the fishing stop work?
It's hand-line fishing from the boat, with the captain and the crew. Tackle is on board. The crew baits the line and shows you what to do, so nobody needs experience. Think of it as a calm last hour, not a sport.
Two things to know. It depends on the weather: in strong wind the captain calls the fishing off. And it's short. If fishing is the reason for the trip, the sunrise fishing day spends the whole day at it, from trolling at 07:30 to bottom fishing in deep water, with lunch cooked from the catch. Sunrise fishing or the Phi Phi fishing day puts the two side by side.
Is there a guide, and a park fee?
Yes to the guide: the Phi Phi, Bamboo and fishing day runs with an English-speaking guide, as do the overnight trips. The jet ski morning starts with a handling briefing at the pier; ask in the chat about anything else for your date.

What if the sea is closed?
If the authorities close the sea, the trip moves to another date. A grey sky by itself changes nothing; wind and swell decide it, and we tell you in the chat. To book, send the trip, the date, your hotel and everyone's ages. Payment is agreed in the chat after the booking is confirmed.
