Why are there two Hong islands?
Short version: the name turns up twice on this coast, and tour titles almost never say which island they mean. One Hong is inside Phang Nga Bay, a short longtail hop from Ko Tapu and the stilt village of Koh Panyi. The other is over in Krabi, near Lao Lading and Pakbia. That one has white sand, clear water and a climb to a lookout.
Same name, very different afternoon. In Phang Nga you sit in a kayak while a boatman pushes you into caves. In Krabi you jump off the boat and swim. If a booking site has muddled them up, look at the stops either side of Hong on the itinerary. Ten seconds, and you know.
Which Hong is on the classic James Bond day?
The Phang Nga one. James Bond island and Phang Nga Bay stays in the bay all day. Pickup is at 07:30, then about an hour and a half on the road and a longtail out between the cliffs. You land on Ko Tapu around 11:30. From 12:30 to 14:00 it's kayaks: sea caves, hidden lagoons, and that's the Hong part of the route.
You don't paddle. A local boatman does it, and he's the reason you get through the low bits at all. Some caves open only at certain tides; bad weather can change the programme too. Lunch is seafood on stilts over the water, then Koh Panyi, then the long drive home. Hotel by about 18:00, park fee already paid.
Which trips go to the Krabi Hong with the viewpoint?
Three of ours do. The Krabi tropical paradise day gives Hong the most time. You land at 13:30, stay roughly two hours, walk up to the viewpoint and snorkel off the island at 15:40. Naka Yai and Pakbia come before it; Lao Lading and a sunset on the sandbar come after. No James Bond island on this one.
The eleven-islands day gets to Hong at 14:00, beach and viewpoint. Five pearls stops there at 14:20 on day one (swim, climb, back on the boat) and you sleep on Phi Phi Don. Park fees are in the price on all three. Side by side: Hong island tours from Phuket.
Can I see James Bond island and the Krabi Hong on the same day?
Yes, if you don't mind a huge day. On the eleven-islands trip you land on James Bond island at 10:20, kayak at Talu, eat in Panyi, then cross to Lao Lading and Hong. Phi Phi is late afternoon. Back at the hotel around 20:00.

Can I swim at Hong island?
In Krabi, yes. There's a beach, and the Krabi day has a snorkelling stop right off the island. Phang Nga Bay is a cave-and-kayak thing, not a beach stop. Pack swimwear if you like; most people come back with wet feet and that's it.
