Phuket Tours with Kids: Which Trips Work for Families

By the PhuketGO tour desk on Phuket — we book and run these trips every week · Updated 28 September 2026

With children, pick Phuket tours with short crossings and a normal start time: Coral island from Rawai, Racha and Coral by speedboat, or Phi Phi with Khai island. Kids aged 4 to 9 pay the child price on every trip we sell, and each card says where younger ones go free.

Prices come straight from our booking system. Children under four join free on most trips — each tour page says so.

What is the easiest island trip with a toddler?

Coral island from Rawai. You meet us at Rawai pier at 08:30 (we collect you from the hotel before that), and the boat crosses in about half an hour. You are back at Rawai by 14:00 — before the afternoon heat, and before the meltdown.

Included: an air-conditioned transfer, coffee and tea at the pier, the park fee, lunch on the island, soft drinks, life jackets, masks. The group tops out at twenty. Every tour in our catalogue runs with an English-speaking guide. After lunch the boat goes round to Hin Dam bay to snorkel — calm enough for a first look underwater.

Which full island day works with kids?

Racha and Coral by speedboat. Pickup 08:00–08:30, about forty minutes from Chalong to Racha Yai, back at the hotel by 17:30. Transfers, lunch on Coral island, masks, jackets, drinking water, fruit and island fees are all in; under-fours ride free.

Mornings are Patok Bay on Racha Yai — soft sand, clear water. Afternoons on Coral island have banana boats and the like on the sand (paid on the spot), which older kids will ask about the moment they see them. You have been warned.

Can we do Phi Phi with children?

Yes — the Khai island version. Pickup at 07:30, speedboat from Chalong at 09:15, back around 16:15. The first stop has shallow water with fish at the shore, so a child can snorkel without being out of their depth. Then Monkey Beach, a buffet lunch with vegetarian dishes, the lagoons of Phi Phi Leh and Maya Bay.

The park fee on this one is paid in cash on the day. And I would not do the Phi Phi sunrise trip with a five-year-old: the pickup is between four and half past four.

What if my kids hate boats?

Two good answers. On water, but calm: James Bond island and Phang Nga Bay stays inside a sheltered bay all day — a longtail, a sea kayak that the guide paddles, lunch in the stilt village of Koh Panyi. No dark start, and under-fours ride free.

Or skip the sea entirely. The Khao Lak safari keeps changing every hour — a cave temple, a small zoo, elephants, a bamboo raft, turtles, a fruit market — so nobody has time to get bored. Shorter still is the Phuket sightseeing tour: about six hours of viewpoints, the Big Buddha, Wat Chalong, the old town, and a baby elephant to feed.

Tell us the ages in the chat and we will say which of these fits.

    • →Toddlers and a short morning — Coral island from Rawai
    • →First full island day — Racha and Coral by speedboat
    • →Phi Phi with a first snorkel — Phi Phi, Maya Bay and Khai island
    • →Afraid of open sea — James Bond island and Phang Nga Bay
    • →Rough sea or a break from boats — Khao Lak safari or Phuket sightseeing

Is there a family day on Phuket itself?

The Phuket sightseeing tour picks up at 08:45 and returns around 15:00. It runs along the viewpoints over Kata Noi, Kata and Karon, the windmill viewpoint and Promthep cape, stops at the Chao Le sea gypsy market, the Big Buddha viewpoint and Wat Chalong, walks the old town and finishes at Rang Hill with its wild monkeys. There are no shopping stops built into it.

Air-conditioned transport, a guide and insurance are included; drinks are not, so bring water for the children. It is the gentlest full programme we sell for a family's first day on the island.

    What should parents plan for?

The pre-dawn trips are the ones to skip with small children. The early Similan boat is not recommended for children under four because the wake-up is around half past three, and the Phi Phi sunrise trip picks up between four and half past four. Rafting has a minimum age of six, and on the jet ski tour only adults of eighteen and over drive.

Tell us the children's ages when you book: it decides the price, the size of the life jacket and the seat in the transfer. Booking happens in the chat, and payment is agreed there after the booking is confirmed: by card, bank transfer or USDT.

Worth knowingSpeedboats bounce on the open sea, and the ride is harder on small children than on adults. If your child gets motion sick, choose Coral island from Rawai or the sheltered water of Phang Nga Bay, and give the medicine before boarding, not on the boat. Ask us which boat.

    Questions people ask

What age is the child price on Phuket tours?

Ages 4 to 9 on our trips. From ten years old the adult price applies. Children under four travel free on our trips, without a separate seat or meals.

Which Phuket tour is best for toddlers?

Coral island from Rawai pier. The crossing is about thirty minutes, you are back by 14:00, and lunch, life jackets and the park fee are included.

Can children snorkel on Phuket tours?

Yes, in shallow spots. Khai island on the Phi Phi route and Hin Dam bay at Coral island have calm, clear water close to the shore. Life jackets are provided.

Are sunrise tours suitable for children?

Not for small ones. Pickups start between 03:45 and 05:00, and the early Similan trip is not recommended for children under four.

What is the minimum age for rafting?

Six years old. Every raft has an instructor, and life jackets and helmets are included.

Is there a tour without a boat for families?

Yes. The Khao Lak safari and the Phuket sightseeing tour are inland days with elephants, temples and viewpoints, and neither involves a sea crossing.
