Khao Lak safari: jungle, waterfalls and elephants

A cave temple, bamboo rafting, the elephant spa and mainland Thailand away from the resorts

One day, around ten hoursUp to 40 peoplefrom 1,650 ฿

The cheapest way to spend a day off the island and see what the mainland actually looks like. The route runs north into the Khao Lak Lam Ru reserve through rubber and fruit plantations, with stops that have nothing to do with beaches: a temple inside a stalactite cave with bats overhead, an elephant camp where you wash and bathe the elephants, a bamboo raft drifting down a jungle river, a waterfall, a turtle farm and a fruit market where the guide makes you taste things.

    Questions we get asked

Is this the cheapest full day we sell?

It is one of them, and the reason is simple: no boats and no national marine park fees. The money goes into distance rather than into sea transport.

    Will I get wet?

Yes. Between the elephants, the raft and the waterfall you will be soaked at least once, which is why a change of clothes is on the list.

    What is there for children?

The elephants, the zoo, the turtle farm and the raft. This is one of the easier days for a family, and there is no early start.
