How Much Is a Similan Islands Tour from Phuket for a Family?
By the PhuketGO tour desk on Phuket — we book and run these trips every week · Updated 28 September 2026
Children aged 4 to 9 pay the child price, from ten the adult price applies, and children under four travel free without a separate seat or meals. Park fees, transfer, food and snorkelling gear are in the price on both our Similan trips. The table on this page shows the current prices for each boat.
Tours and prices in Thai baht
| Tour | Duration | Adult | Child 4–9 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Similan islands: the classic day trip | About twelve hours | 2,600 ฿ | 2,400 ฿ |
| Similan islands, early departure | One day, 04:00–17:00 | 2,800 ฿ | 2,500 ฿ |
Prices come straight from our booking system. Children under four join free on most trips — each tour page says so.
What does a family of four pay?
Take two adults and two children aged 4 to 9. On the Similan big-boat day the adult price at the time of writing is 2,600 baht and the child price 2,400, so the family pays 2 × 2,600 + 2 × 2,400 = 10,000 baht. On the early Similan speedboat, 2,800 adult and 2,500 child, the same family pays 10,600 baht.
If one of the children is under four, take that ticket out (they travel free on the big boat, sitting on a parent's lap, without meals). If a child is ten or older, count them as an adult. Prices come from our booking system, so the table above is always the one to trust; the manager confirms the exact total in the chat.
What is included in that price?
On the big boat: transfer to and from the hotel (on Phuket and in Khao Lak), an English-speaking guide, breakfast and a buffet lunch, water, coffee, tea and fruit, mask and snorkel, life jackets, national park entrance fees and insurance.
The early speedboat adds fins, disposable mouthpieces, beach towels, Wi-Fi on board, beer at the pier in the morning, and ice cream and wine on the way back (it runs in the Comfort+ format). There's nothing big to pay on the day apart from personal spending.
- Park fees: included on both
- Transfer from Phuket or Khao Lak hotels: included on both
- Towels: early speedboat only
- Under fours: free on the big boat; the early boat isn't recommended for them
Which boat makes sense with children?
For most families, the big boat. It rides more smoothly, there's room to move about over a twelve-hour day, and the start is a little later (pickup 05:30–06:30). The early speedboat means a wake-up around half past three; it isn't recommended for children under four for exactly that reason.
There's no minimum age for snorkelling as such: a child is in the water with a parent, and the parent decides. If you want to compare the two boats properly, read whether the early departure is worth it.
When can we go?
Only in season. The Similan national park closes for the monsoon from mid-May to mid-October, and in those months no boat goes, at any price. In season the trip runs weather permitting. Bring a passport or a clear copy for every member of the family, because the park registers visitors at the pier. More on the season on our page about Similan opening.
What's the day like for kids?
Long, so plan for it. On the big boat the pickup is 05:30 to 06:30, there's breakfast on board, two snorkelling stops, a beach on island 8 and another on island 4, and a buffet lunch in between. Toilets and a small park shop are only on islands 4 and 8, which is worth knowing with small children.
Bring a warm layer for the boat (it can be cold out there), sunscreen, hats and a change of clothes. You'll be back at the hotel somewhere between 15:30 and 18:00 depending on where you stay.
If you're also staying in Khao Lak, the transfer works from there as well, which makes the morning drive to the pier shorter.
Seasickness is the other thing to think about with children: the crossing is around two hours each way, and mornings are usually the calmest part of the day.
How do we book and pay?
Write in the chat with the boat, the date, your hotel and the ages of all the children. The manager checks the date, confirms the total and the pickup time, and payment by card online is agreed in the chat once the booking is confirmed. If the sea is closed by the authorities, the trip moves to another date or the payment comes back.
Ask anything about the children in the same message (ages, a car seat question, food). It's easier to sort out before the date than at the pier.
