Do the Guides on Your Phuket Tours Speak English?
By the PhuketGO tour desk on Phuket — we book and run these trips every week · Updated 28 September 2026
Yes. Every tour in our catalogue runs with an English-speaking guide, from the Phi Phi speedboat to the jungle days and the dive boat. On James Bond island a Russian-speaking guide also joins on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays when a Russian group forms.

Where an English-speaking guide matters most
If the commentary is the thing you care about, I'd start with Phi Phi, Maya Bay and Khai island. It's a day with a lot to explain: why you snorkel beside Maya Bay rather than walk onto it, when Pileh Lagoon can be entered (it depends on the tide), what the Viking Cave nests are. You're picked up around half past seven and back by late afternoon.
James Bond island suits English commentary even better because it's slow. You spend the morning in a longtail between the cliffs of Phang Nga Bay, sit in a kayak while a local boatman takes you into sea caves, eat seafood on stilts and walk through Koh Panyi, a village built over the water. Without a guide that village is just pretty. With one, it makes sense.
Early starts and half days
Phi Phi at sunrise is the one with the alarm clock: pickup at four, Maya Bay between seven and eight, before the day boats. Coral island from Rawai is a half day, back on Phuket by two, and a gentle way to try a Phuket boat trip if you've never done one. Both have an English-speaking guide, like everything else we sell.
Which of the two? If you can face four in the morning, the sunrise boat is the quiet way into Maya Bay. If you can't, Coral island is a far kinder start, and you're back for a late lunch by the pool.
Land days, the Similans and Krabi
Same on the Similans, on the Khao Lak safari and on the rafting day. Secrets of Krabi is the long one: pickup between five and six, the Emerald lake at half past nine, hot springs before lunch, then the Tiger Cave temple with its 1,260 steps, or the monastery at the bottom if your knees say no.
Honestly, the land days are where you'll use the guide most. There's a lot of road, and someone who talks between stops makes it go faster.
Diving and the sightseeing tour
Check diving first anyway. On a first dive you need to follow the instructor (no way around that); beginners are briefed on the boat before going in, and the day comes with an English-speaking guide. Put any health question in your booking message, because the medical questionnaire is done before diving.
Nervous about the water? Tell the guide on the pier, not halfway across. A mask that doesn't fit or a seat away from the spray is a two-minute fix before the boat leaves and a long ride after.
The Phuket sightseeing tour has an English-speaking guide too. Karon Viewpoint, the Big Buddha, Wat Chalong and the Old Town are better with someone explaining them, and our half-day sightseeing guide has the stops and times.

If you only speak English
Good, because that's who these pages are written for. You get the same boat, the same stops and the same lunch as everyone else, and the guide tells the story between stops in English.
One habit worth keeping anyway: when you board, look for the life jackets, sit where the crew points you on the speedboat, and ask what time the boat leaves each beach. Asking twice is fine.
How to ask
WhatsApp us one message: the trip, the date, how many of you, the hotel. 'James Bond island, Tuesday, two adults, Patong' is plenty. We reply with that date's answer.
Card payment online gets sorted in the chat after we confirm the booking. Under-fours ride free (no seat of their own, no meals), four to nine pay the child price, ten and over the adult one. Our English pages are meant to be read the night before, programme, inclusions and all.
