Koh Miang, Similan Island 4: The Beach Stop on Trips from Phuket
By the PhuketGO tour desk on Phuket — we book and run these trips every week · Updated 12 October 2026
Koh Miang is island number 4 of the Similan chain, and both our Similan trips land there, at opposite ends of the day. The early Similan boat makes it the first stop, at 08:00, with white coral sand, very clear water and a walk into the jungle where flying foxes live, while the classic Similan day arrives at 14:30 for the last swim. Both are on Similan Islands tours from Phuket.

When do the Similan trips land on Koh Miang?
On the early boat, Miang comes first. You're picked up somewhere between four and five, have breakfast at Tab Lamu at half past five, leave at six and step onto Koh Miang at eight. After that: islands 7 and 9 for open-water snorkelling at 10:10, island 8 and the Sail Rock climb with a lunch box at 11:30, and the boat turns for home at 14:00.
The classic boat flips the order. It leaves Tab Lamu at 07:30, snorkels at island 9 at nine, climbs Sail Rock at ten, gives you beach time on island 8, feeds you a buffet on board, snorkels again at island 7 at 13:30, and only then, at 14:30, lands on Koh Miang. The boat heads back about an hour later; you're at the hotel near 18:00.
What do you do on Koh Miang?
Early, it's quiet. At eight in the morning the main groups haven't arrived, the beach is often empty, and the guide walks you a little way into the jungle. Flying foxes live in there. Will you see them? Maybe. We won't promise.
On the classic day it's simpler: swim, lie on the sand, take the photos you didn't get earlier. It's the last stop before the long ride back, so this is the swim to make count. Bring a towel on the classic day: the early boat hands them out, the classic one doesn't.
What's on the island for visitors?
Koh Miang is one of two Similan islands with toilets, a small shop and a national park café; the other is island 8. On the other stops, the boat is your base.
Bring reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, a waterproof phone pouch and a light layer for the boat; the early card also lists a change of clothes. Bring your passport or a copy for the classic day.
Early boat or classic day for Koh Miang?
If Koh Miang is the island you came for, take the early boat: you get it first, quiet, with the jungle walk. It's 2,800 ฿ for adults and 2,500 ฿ for children 4–9, and our card doesn't recommend it for children under four because of the 04:00 start.
If it's the last swim of a full Similan day you're after, the classic boat does that and costs less: 2,600 ฿ for adults, 2,400 ฿ for children 4–9, with the park tickets included and children under four free. Is the early Similan departure worth it goes into the trade-off.
Is Koh Miang good for children?
On the classic day, yes. It's a beach stop with toilets and a shop, the last one of the day, so nobody has to hold on until the pier. Children 4–9 pay the child price, children under four go free, and life jackets are on board for the swim.
The early boat is a different story: pickup is from 04:00, and our card doesn't recommend it for children under four. For the whole family picture, see the Similan Islands with children.
What's included, and when can I go?
Both trips include hotel transfer from Phuket or Khao Lak, an English-speaking guide, breakfast and lunch, snorkel gear, life jackets and insurance. The early boat adds fins, beach towels, soft drinks, ice cream and wine on the way home.
The Similans are open from mid-October to mid-May: our card lists the closure as 15 May to 15 October. Tab Lamu pier explains where the boats leave from. To book, message us on WhatsApp with the trip, the date, your hotel and everyone's ages. Payment is agreed in the chat after the booking is confirmed.
