Tab Lamu Pier from Phuket: The Similan Boat Pier in Khao Lak
By the PhuketGO tour desk on Phuket — we book and run these trips every week · Updated 12 October 2026
Tab Lamu is where the Similan boats go from. It sits on the mainland by Khao Lak, our tour cards spell it Tablamu, the Thai name is closer to Thap Lamu, and from Phuket you'll get there half asleep in a minivan rather than by finding it on a map. Our classic Similan day casts off at 07:30, the early Similan boat at 06:00, and both are on Similan Islands tours from Phuket.

When does each Similan boat leave Tab Lamu?
Classic day first. The minivan turns up between 05:30 and 06:30, which feels early until you meet the other boat. Ninety-odd minutes up the coast road and you're at Tab Lamu. You eat breakfast on board, sit through a short safety talk and leave at 07:30. Same road home in the afternoon; figure on six o'clock at the hotel.
The early boat really is early. Pickup 04:00 to 05:00. Pier at 05:30. Boat at 06:00, ahead of the main groups, which is the whole point. You're back at the pier between 16:00 and 16:30, dinner is served right there, and the minivans head off at 17:00. We don't recommend this one for children under four, and neither does the card: it's the start, not the sea.
What happens at the pier?
If you're on the early trip, quite a lot. Breakfast is a buffet at the pier, there's coffee, there's beer for anyone brave enough at half past five, and this is where you meet your guide. Classic-day people barely stop: straight on board, breakfast at sea.
Both boats come back to Tab Lamu. The early one feeds you dinner there before the drive, so you reach the hotel fed. Don't forget your passport or a copy; it's on the Similan card's list.
Last chance to sort your bag, then. Swimwear, a towel, dry clothes for later. Reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses. A waterproof pouch for the phone, a bit of cash, seasickness tablets if you get them. That's the classic card's list; the early card adds a warm layer, and it's right, mornings on the water are cool.
What's included from Phuket?
On the classic day you don't pay for much once you're in the minivan. The ride from Phuket or Khao Lak and back is covered, and so are the English-speaking guide, breakfast and a buffet lunch, water, coffee and fruit, the mask and snorkel, the life jackets, the national park entry and insurance. What's left: drinks with alcohol in them, tips, and drone shots if you were planning any.
Early boat: the same transfer and guide, the pier buffet plus a lunch box, full snorkel sets with fins, beach towels, soft drinks and fruit, insurance and Wi-Fi on the speedboat. And ice cream with a glass of wine on the way home, which is a nice touch. Prices for adults and children 4–9 are in the table up top; under-fours go free.
Can I get to Tab Lamu on my own?
You can, but there's little reason to. The transfer from hotels on Phuket and in Khao Lak is already in the price of both trips, and hotels further from the pier are collected first. If you're staying in Khao Lak, the ride is short and you sleep longer.
Staying somewhere remote? A few areas cost extra for the transfer. We'll tell you how much in the chat, before you pay anything. Your pickup time and the exact meeting point arrive with the booking confirmation.
When do the boats run?
Not all year. The park shuts on 15 May and opens again on 15 October, per our Similan card, so think mid-October to mid-May, and the first weeks of the season still depend on the weather. More on that: are the Similan Islands open. Haven't picked a hotel yet? Read Phuket or Khao Lak as a base first.
