Samet Nangshe from Phuket: Sunrise, Morning or Afternoon?

By the PhuketGO tour desk on Phuket — we book and run these trips every week · Updated 28 September 2026

    Short answer

Our trips from Phuket reach the Samet Nangshe viewpoint at three times of day: at 08:00 on the Cheow Lan lake day, which the card treats as its sunrise stop, at 08:40 on the two Phang Nga days, and after midday on the Avatar world and elephant beach days. If you want the morning light and the viewpoint as the main event, take a morning trip; if you want lunch with the view inside a bigger day, take an afternoon one.

Five trips, three times of day

Samet Nangshe is a stop on five of our days. What changes is the hour and what comes before and after it.

    • →08:00, first stop of the day — Cheow Lan lake and the Samet Nangshe sunrise
    • →08:40, first stop of the day — Phang Nga and Samet Nangshe
    • →08:40, on the glass skywalk with coffee — Phang Nga and the Samet Nangshe skywalk
    • →13:00, after elephant bathing and lunch — the Avatar world day
    • →13:30, with lunch overlooking the bay — elephant beach and Mantra Spa

Early: the Cheow Lan lake day

Pickup at 06:00, because the card makes Samet Nangshe its sunrise stop, and you're at the viewpoint at 08:00 for the bay and its limestone islands. At 09:00 the coach heads about an hour and a half through the jungle to Khao Sok, and from 11:20 you're on Cheow Lan lake by longtail: the tall limestone cliffs, lunch at a floating restaurant at 13:00, fishing for red tilapia and a swim at 14:00, a short jungle walk at 15:00 and Bang Thong temple at 16:20.

It's a long drive day; the card puts the road to the lake at around two and a half hours each way. It suits children from about three. Bring a light layer for the water.

Morning: the two Phang Nga days

Pickup at 06:30, and a pickup truck takes you up to the viewpoint for 08:40, with time for photos. On the skywalk version you stand on the glass bridge and have coffee and dessert there. Both then go to Suwan Kuha cave temple at 10:30, a longtail through the mangroves, a seafood lunch in the floating village, the elephant spa at 13:40 with every activity included, a waterfall and the airplane beach, leaving at 17:30.

Here the viewpoint is the start of the day, not a break in the middle of it. That's the version I'd book if Samet Nangshe is the reason you're going.

Afternoon: the Avatar world and elephant beach days

The Avatar world day reaches the viewpoint at 13:00. By then you've had the lily café, the white temple, a bath with an elephant at 11:00 and lunch; afterwards comes a bamboo raft at 15:00, quad bikes at 15:30, a waterfall and hot springs on Natai beach at sunset. Pickup at 07:00, the drive back at 19:00.

The elephant beach day eats at the viewpoint: Samet Nangshe at 13:30, with lunch overlooking the bay and the mangroves. Before it, the white temple, the airplane beach and swimming with elephants at 12:20; after it, Mantra Spa at 15:00 and the drive back at 18:00. Why the elephant programmes differ between these days is on does the rafting, elephant and ATV tour include elephant bathing.

    So which hour?

Morning if the view is the point: the Phang Nga days put you there first and the rest of the day follows. Afternoon if the viewpoint is one good stop in a day built around elephants, a spa or hot springs; lunch with the view is the reward. The Cheow Lan day is for people who want the lake as much as the viewpoint and don't mind the road.

Beyond Skywalk is a different place

The earliest we're anywhere above Phang Nga Bay is the sunrise skywalk trip: Beyond Skywalk at 05:45, with the sun up around 06:15 on that card, and then a longtail past James Bond island. Another glass bridge over the same bay, a different viewpoint; Samet Nangshe or Beyond Skywalk compares the two. Hoping to add James Bond island to the same day? See Samet Nangshe and James Bond island in one day.

    Clothes, children and booking

Temples on the Phang Nga days and the elephant beach day need shoulders and knees covered; cover-ups can be hired for a small fee. Children aged 4 to 9 pay the child price on all five trips. Every tour in our catalogue runs with an English-speaking guide.

Send the trip, the date and your hotel in the chat. Payment is agreed there after we confirm the booking, and the cancellation terms are worth asking for at the same time.

Worth knowingWeather can change any of these programmes. If the view from Samet Nangshe is the main reason for your trip, book it early in your holiday so there is room to move it.

    Questions people ask

Is Samet Nangshe better at sunrise or in the afternoon?

Morning, if the view is why you are going: our Phang Nga days put you there at 08:40 as the first stop. The afternoon trips reach it after lunch, as one stop in a longer day.

Which tour goes to Samet Nangshe for sunrise?

The Cheow Lan lake day. It picks up at 06:00 and makes Samet Nangshe its first stop, at 08:00, before driving on to the lake.

What time do the Phang Nga days reach the viewpoint?

At 08:40, after a 06:30 pickup and a pickup-truck ride up the hill.

Which tour has lunch at Samet Nangshe?

The elephant beach and Mantra Spa day, at 13:30, with a view over the bay and the mangroves.

Is Beyond Skywalk the same as Samet Nangshe?

No. Beyond Skywalk is the glass bridge on our sunrise trip, reached at 05:45. Samet Nangshe is a different viewpoint over the same bay.

Can children come to Samet Nangshe?

Yes. Children aged 4 to 9 pay the child price on all five trips, and the Cheow Lan lake day suits children from about three.

What happens if it rains during a Samet Nangshe sunrise or skywalk tour?

The day goes ahead unless the weather forces a change; our cards say weather can change the programme. Cloud or rain can hide the sunrise itself, which nobody can promise. If a sea section can't run, the trip follows our weather rules.
