Phang Nga and Samet Nangshe: viewpoint, mangroves and an elephant spa
The bay from above, a longtail through the mangroves, a cave temple and the airport beach
Phang Nga is the province just north of Phuket, and this day is the overview of it: the bay seen from above at Samet Nangshe, a cave temple where the monkeys live, a longtail boat through the mangroves, a floating village where lunch is seafood, and an elephant camp with mud and water. It finishes at Mai Khao beach, where aircraft come in low over the sand on their way into the airport.

Questions we get asked
How do you get up to the Samet Nangshe viewpoint?
The last stretch of road is steep, so the group transfers to pickup trucks for the climb. From the top the whole bay with its limestone islands is in front of you.
What exactly happens at the elephant camp?
Mud treatment, bathing and showering the elephants, a show and a ride. All of it is in the price, and you choose which parts you take part in.
Is this a sea day?
No. The only boat is the longtail through the mangroves, which stays on flat water. Choose this one if the sea is rough or you prefer land.

Not sure which day to pick?
Write to us with your dates and the hotel you stay at. We live on Phuket and will say straight away whether the sea suits this trip that week, and what fits better if it does not.
